Science this year in grades 6 and 8 is definetly HANDS -ON! We have been keeping science journals on the different types of rocks we have been investigating. Sedimentary, Igneous, and Metamorphic and the Rock Cycle have been of great interest to us. The students have had 3 different rocks that they have had to determine what kind they are, and use the geologists terms in determining what the color, texture, .mineral composition, and orgin of the rock. Our classes have had the prividelge of having speakers on the subject and the Journal Courier Newspaper is coming out today to take pictures and interview the students on being investigators. On the students first Chapter Test over the entire Unit everyone scored an A or B. That is amazing ,and just shows how important it is to have hands on learning.
