Jagger is the snack provider.

In Religion, the first graders will hear the stories about Jesus’ miracles of healing Peter’s mother-in-law and the miraculous catch of fish. We need to understand that because we live in a sinful world, we will experience pain and illness but we should be assured that Jesus alone has the power over sin, death and Satan, including the power to help us with our physical problems. We also hear about the disciples and their miraculous catch of fish. Even though they fished all night catching no fish, when they obeyed Jesus’ suggestion, their nets couldn’t hold all the fish. Jesus’ miracles show us that He is God and we should follow Him as our Lord and Master as we listen to His Word.

Memory work:

31. Jesus said, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Matthew 4:19

The first graders will learn about Jesus healing a man with a crippled hand and Jesus stilling the storm. As Jesus healed others in need, we should recognize others in need too and reflect Jesus’ care and compassion, loving as He first loved us. Just as Jesus has power over nature as shown in the stilling the storm miracle, He even has power over sin, death and the devil. We can trust God for His protection and salvation.
